HARDY STREET - Walney Island

Technically this page should be included as a back street to Teasdale Road as the street 'planned' as Hardy Street on William Gradwell & Co's plan of the late 1800's never actually took its name officially as their company's development moved further east toward the Bankfield Hotel and The Croft as a more desirable plan by Gradwell to establish a rural retreat at North Scale. Other names on the development proposal included names like Harewood Street and Stanley Street, which now form part of the present Foxfield Road. Hardy Street as can be seen in the picture above runs between what was the original Chapel and the upper most terraced houses of Teasdale Road.
