PARK-VALE ATHLETICS TRACK - Walney Island

Park-vale arena was officially opened during May 1981 and consists of a synthetic, 400m, 6 lanes, 8 lane straight track. At present (2005) the facility is in a state of disrepair and therefore not open to the general public. Competitions are no longer held due to the lack of funding to facilitate those repairs urgently needed. A lottery bid was prepared for early 2000 to include resurfacing and revamping the track but this was unsuccessful. A similar lottery bid was placed during 1997, but was also unsuccessful.
