West Point House was last used as an elderly care home, but became redundant as such during 2011, when spending cuts meant that occupants and staff found themselves being transferred to other facilities in the area. It is understood that the attics of West Point are home to a bat colony although confirmation was still being sought to substantiate this claim at the time of closure.

The home was sold at auction  to John and Heather Phillips in July of 2011 for 150,000 with plans being accepted for it to be converted into shared residential accommodation.
